When your posts land a little wider than 6 ft but well short of 8 ft, this 6.5 ft rail closes the top of the panel without heavy trimming. It gives the infill stack a straight black edge that suits black posts and gate frames.

Standard rails come at 6 ft and 8 ft, and real yards rarely cooperate. This black rail runs 6.5 ft, so it suits sections or gate frames that fall between those two sizes. It sits over the uppermost board of the panel and locks the stack into a neat, level line.

Why aluminum on top
The upper edge of any fence takes the most sun, rain and falling leaves. A wood cap can swell or crack there over time, while a powder-coated aluminum rail holds its shape and color. Black also pairs with black post caps and frames for a sharp outline.

Write down the clear width of each opening first. A few openings might match this 6.5 ft size, while others call for 6 ft or 8 ft. Budget a single rail for every panel or gate leaf, and think about one spare if material will sit on site before the build. Choosing the nearest standard size means fewer cuts and tidy factory-cut ends where the rail meets each post.
Can I cut a longer rail down instead?
It is possible. Have us confirm bracket locations first, so the shortened piece still sits properly over the infill.
