Why use a separate hinge post

Every time a gate opens, the hinge side takes its weight. Hanging hinges straight off a wall often means fighting uneven brick, block or siding. The Boxed 2 x 2 in. Hinge Post 6 ft – Wall Mount Only gives the hinges a flat, plumb surface, so the leaf hangs true. It is 6063-T6 aluminum in a black AAMA 2604 coat, so it will not rot or swell against a damp wall like a timber post.

What comes in the box

• Post cap and its screws
• Baseplate, with either a 3/8 in. x 3 in. anchor bolt or a 3/8 in. x 3 in. hex head wood screw
• Screws to join the baseplate to the post
• Striker plates with screws and brackets

Pairing it up

For a wall-to-wall opening with a DIY walk-through gate kit, mount this on one wall and the 2x2 in. x 6 ft L-side post on the other. Need both at once? The combined hinge and L-side post kit is a simpler order. Taller gate? Look at the 8 ft hinge post.

Can I set it in concrete?

No, it is wall-only. For open ground, pick a post made for footings, like the 3.15 or one of the HD posts, and check the combination with our team.

Is the latch side included?

No, the L-side post is sold separately or in the combined kit.
