Globus Gates lists the 3.15 post as a wall-or-footing option for several gate kits, and it turns up on railings and patio enclosures too. This cap is cut to that exact square size. Its flat face gives the post a clean, minimal crown, which suits modern horizontal fences.

What it is made of

The cap is aluminum with a black powder-coated finish. Aluminum does not rust, so the cap is at home in hot sun, humid air, wet climates and near the ocean.

Why cap a post at all

An open tube collects water, dirt and insects. Over time that buildup can stain or damage the inside of the post. Closing the top is a small step that helps a fence stay tidy for longer.

Fitting steps

Brush any dust or metal chips off the post top.
Set the cap in place to check it seats flush before committing.
If the spot sees strong wind or lots of traffic, put a few dabs of outdoor-grade adhesive inside the cap first.
Push down firmly. On bigger jobs, a light tap with a rubber mallet speeds things up.
Wipe away extra adhesive at once and give it time to cure.

No. It is an optional extra for a permanent hold.
