Large 4x4 in. posts often hold gates or heavy sections, and an open top lets in water, insects and leaves that build up inside. This black flat press cap covers that opening and gives the post a finished, modern look.

The powder-coated aluminum will not rust and holds up to sun, rain, humidity and salt air, so it suits pool areas and coastal properties.

Installing it

Wipe the post top free of dust.
Dry-fit the cap to make sure it sits flush.
For windy or busy spots, add a little outdoor-rated adhesive to the cap's inner walls.
Press it down until flush. A rubber mallet helps on large jobs.
Clean off any squeeze-out right away, and let adhesive cure before harsh weather.

Most installs need no tools at all.
