A middle-weight post for gates

Gate posts in the Globus Gates range go from wall-mounted 2x2 in. posts for the hinge and latch sides, through the wall-only 2.75 2-way post, up to the 4 in. HD post that stands alone. The 3×3 in. x 6ft. Square Post (.090 Thk) in black sits between them: a free-standing post for gates that do not need the 4 in. profile.

Mounting options

For walk-through gates, the 3 in. HD post can go into a concrete footing or onto a base plate. Sliding gate kits call for a 3 in. square post set in a footing or fixed to a wall. To surface mount, use the matching 5×5 in. plate designed for 3×3 posts.

Because 6 ft is the shortest length, it is a natural choice for base plates, since no length ends up buried. Setting it in concrete instead? The 8 ft or 12 ft versions leave more post above ground for your gate height.

Finishing touches

Close the top with a flat press cap in the same finish. For fasteners, #14 x 2 in. stainless screws are specified for this post. Confirm which side the hinges go on and how wide the opening is before you buy.
